《雅加达邮报》5月31日电 能源和矿产资源部长Sudirman表示,印尼政府乐观地认为,在未来五年内印尼电气化将达到100%。
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said has said the government is optimistic that within the next five years Indonesia will reach 100 percent electrification.
"I’m optimistic that when Indonesia reaches its 75th year, all of its areas will be fully electrified because currently 84 percent of the country has access to electricity,” he said as quoted by Antara during a media gathering event at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry in Jakarta on Sunday.
Despite such optimism, Sudirman admitted that it would be difficult for the government to provide electricity for remote areas that were impossible to reach.
Therefore, he said, the government would provide solar-powered lights for people in hard-to-reach areas.
“The lamps will be charged in daytime so they can be used in the evening, allowing children, for instance, to study at night,” said Sudirman.
He further said the government would push investors to invest in the energy sector, and it was targeted that investment values in the sector would reach Rp 4 quadrillion (US$304 billion) in the next five years. This comprised Rp 1.2 quadrillion worth of investments in the upstream oil and gas sector, followed by investments in the electricity sector (Rp 1.1. quadrillion), the downstream oil and gas sector (Rp 600 trillion), the mineral resource sector (Rp 600 trillion) and the new and renewable energy sector (Rp 500 trillion).
To that end, Sudirman said, the capacity of the government, state-owned enterprises and independent power producers to manage projects must be well maintained.
