据《雅加达邮报》10月26日报道,根据战略与国际研究中心最新的民意调查显示,大多数印尼民众对佐科政府处理海事问题比较满意,但是对政府在经济问题上的表现不满。Indonesians are mostly satisfied with the way President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s administration has handled maritime issues, but most of them are dissatisfied with the administration’s performance in terms of the economy, according to a new poll conducted by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

“The poll indicates 59.4 percent [of respondents] are satisfied with the administration’s performance in the maritime sector.

Around 32.8 percent are dissatisfied while the remaining 7.8 percent say they have no any idea [about Jokowi’s maritime performance] and some of them chose not to answer,” said CSIS researcher Arya Fernandez as quoted by tribunnews.com in a press conference in Jakarta on Saturday.Law enforcement ranked second in terms of public satisfaction, with 51.1 percent saying they were satisfied with the Jokowi administration’s law enforcement measures, and 45.8 percent saying they were dissatisfied.

Meanwhile, 40 percent of respondents were satisfied with Jokowi’s performance in politics, giving it the third-highest public satisfaction ranking.Economic issues have been a major point of criticism of Jokowi and accordingly 69.1 percent of respondents were dissatisfied with the administration’s handling of the economy, with only 30 percent satisfied.Arya said Indonesia’s declining economy in the first year of Jokowi’s administration was suspected to be the main reason behind the public dissatisfaction."Despite the release of five economic policy packages, the public is still waiting for their implementation and outcome," Arya stated. The survey was conducted from Oct.14 to Oct. 21 through direct interviews and structured question lists.

The survey involved 1,183 respondents taken proportionally from 34 provinces and recruited using a multi-stage random sampling methodology.Despite their dissatisfaction, the poll showed that Indonesians still largely support President Jokowi and Vice President Jusuf Kalla, with 79.7 percent saying that they still believed the Jokowi-Kalla administration could improve their performance in the next four years. Meanwhile, the public’s confidence in Kalla stands at 75.2 percent, slightly below their confidence in Jokowi, which stands at 80 percent."Jokowi and Kalla should harness this high level of public confidence to improve their performance," Arya asserted.
