据《雅加达邮报》10月26日报道，佐科计划访问位于旧金山硅谷的苹果和谷歌两大科技巨头，佐科将于10月25-30日访问美国。President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is scheduled to visit two digital giants, Apple and Google, in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, on the sidelines of his visit to theUSfrom Oct. 25 to 30.

The Communications and Information Ministry's director of international communications, Selamatta Sembiring, said President Jokowi's meeting withthe Apple and Google CEOs was aimed at sounding out the possibility of gaining support in the development of information and technology in rural areas inIndonesiato boost both knowledge and interest in digital technologies among villagers.

He said cooperation agreements on telecommunications would be signed to start and expand the development of digital technology in the archipelago."Google will develop Internet access in remote areas, while Apple will develop research and development inJakarta,Bandung, Yogyakarta andSurakarta," said Selamatta at his office inJakartaon Monday.

During his visit to the western parts of theUS, he continued, Jokowi would also attend the launch of an Indonesia-supported venture capital firm, Palapa Venture Capital.Earlier, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said Jokowi would discuss problems related to the development of digital technology and creative economy inIndonesia. He said the President wanted villagers acrossIndonesiato understand and use the Internet, adding that a huge amount of village funds could be used to expand access to it.

Jokowi was accompanied by a delegation of digital technology and creative economy developers, such as the founders of mobile-application-based motorcycle taxi company Go-Jek, local e-commerce giant Tokopedia andIndonesia’s largest online forum, Kaskus.
