据《雅加达邮报》10月20日报道,随着佐科执政第一年来的政治、经济及执法问题,越来越多的民众怀疑佐科的领导能力,根据Saiful Mujani研究与咨询公司的调查结果。

Following political, economic and law enforcement issues during the first year of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's administration, more and more people are doubtful that Jokowi is the man to lead, according to a Saiful Mujani Research & Consulting (SMRC) survey distributed on Tuesday.

According to SMRC executive director Djayadi Hanan, when Jokowi first announced his Cabinet on October 20, 2014, 74.5 percent of respondents from a previous SMRC survey said that they believed Jokowi to be able to deliver on his promises to lead the country.

In their latest survey, only 62 percent who said so. Those who are doubtful of Jokowi’s capability also increased from 17.5 percent to 25 percent. "Their confidence has declined compared with last year.

But it is still good progress, compared to people's confidence rating for Jokowi in June, which stood at 55 percent," Djayadi during the survey’s launch at his office in Jakarta. Meanwhile, public approval rating of Jokowi's performance stood at 51.7 percent, better than the public approval rating in June that stood at 41.7 percent.

"This improvement could be due to the political conditions that have been more stable over the last three months," he explained. However, the survey shows Jokowi's public approval rating is worse than former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's (SBY) ratings in the first year of his two-term presidency.

"If we look at the trend, SBY's public approval rating stood at 60 percent on September 2006 and 63 percent on October 2010. That means people consider Jokowi's public approval worse than SBY's," he said. The survey, which questioned 1,027 respondents from October 7 to October 13, 2015, revealed that the public perceived Jokowi’s performance to be subpar in four areas: economics, politics, law enforcement and corruption.

Some 41 percent of respondents believed that the economy had gotten worse since Jokowi took over, while 36 percent believed that the current political situation had deteriorated under Jokowi’s watch. Likewise, 40 percent of respondents believed that law enforcement had declined during the surveyed period.

Djayadi further said that although the public approval rating of Jokowi's performance was considered poor, people had no alternative leader."President Jokowi is still the most popular figure if the election were held today [25.4 percent would choose Jokowi]. The President's closest rival is still Prabowo Subianto [14.3 percent]," he added.Indonesian Data Business Center (PDBI) chairman Christianto Wibisono added that the lack of leadership during his first year as president was due to political consolidation.

According to him, Jokowi's weaknesses are all things that could be overcome. "Jokowi has the next four years to improve his leadership," he said.
