PDI-P wants Jokowi to reshuffle cabinet

Amid his decreasing popularity, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has been urged to eva luate the performance of all ministers in his Cabinet to improve its performance.

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), which nominated Jokowi in the 2014 presidential election, said it would not influence the President in eva luating his Cabinet because it was his prerogative to undertake a reshuffle.

The party, however, suggested that the President should listen to the Great Indonesia Coalition, of which the PDI-P was a member, in reshuffling his Cabinet.

“It’s normal if the PDI-P and its coalition ask for their considerations to be taken into account in eva luating the Cabinet’s performance,” PDI-P deputy chairman Andreas Pareira said during the Jokowi volunteer community meeting at Cibubur Camping Ground, East Jakarta, on Saturday.

He said the public should not slam the supporting political parties when the latter aired their political views on the cabinet reshuffle.

“If the PDI-P gives input it’s accused of pressing the President while other coalition members give their input and it’s considered pure,” he said as quoted by kompas.com.

He said that parties outside the coalition should not press the President for a Cabinet reshuffle.
